Sound but no picture
In LED TVs this is very often the backlight. The picture is still there but too dark to see. Shine a torch close to the screen: if you can faintly see the picture, the backlight has failed.
Will not switch on
If only the standby light comes on, or nothing at all, the power board is the usual cause. Check the socket and the remote first.
Lines on the screen
Lines or bands that stay in place usually come from the panel or its connections. Ask for an estimate before deciding, because a panel can cost close to a new TV.
Picture but no sound
Check that the TV is not muted and that sound is not going to a soundbar or other device. If it is not, the speakers or audio board may have failed.
Switches off by itself
Check the sleep timer and power saving settings first. If those are off, the power board or overheating may be the cause.
Check these before you call
These take a few minutes and sometimes solve the problem.
- Plug the TV into a different socket, and try the power button on the TV itself, not only the remote.
- Replace the remote batteries.
- Press the Input or Source button and make sure the right input is selected.
- Check that mute, the sleep timer and power saving are switched off.
Safety: Do not open the back cover. Parts inside a TV can hold a dangerous electric charge even after it is unplugged.

My TV has sound but a black screen. What is wrong?
This is most often a backlight fault in LED TVs. Shine a torch close to the screen while the TV is on. If you can faintly see the picture, the backlight needs repair, which usually costs far less than a new screen.
Is it worth repairing lines on a TV screen?
Sometimes. Lines can come from a loose connection, which is a small repair, or from the panel itself, which is expensive. Ask for the diagnosis and the cost before deciding.

No. MS Home Appliances is an independent local repair business and is not the authorised service centre of any brand. If your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact the brand first, because outside repair can affect the warranty.
